Privacy Policy

Coastal Dune Labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our") builds Comfy Budgets, a personal budgeting app for iPhone. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Comfy Budgets application and this website.

The short version: your money data lives on your phone, not on our servers. Ask Otto's AI runs entirely on-device. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide in the App

Comfy Budgets is designed to store your data on your device. The financial data you enter — income, bills, savings goals, budgets, transactions, categories, IOUs between friends, notes, and attached photos — is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage frameworks. We do not operate servers that receive or store your financial data.

1.2 Ask Otto (On-Device AI)

Ask Otto is an on-device AI feature. Your questions and the financial data used to answer them are processed entirely on your device. Prompts and responses are never transmitted to us or to any third-party AI service, and your data is never used to train any model.

1.3 Photos, Receipts, and Memories

Comfy Budgets lets you attach photos to purchases (Memories) and capture receipts with your camera. Receipt images are processed on your device, and all photos are stored locally. Nothing is uploaded to any external server.

1.4 Subscription and Purchase Data

If you purchase Comfy Budgets Premium, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to validate your purchase and manage your subscription status. RevenueCat may collect:

• An anonymous app user identifier
• Purchase and subscription history (product purchased, transaction dates, subscription status)
• Device information (device model, operating system version)

We do not receive or store your name, email address, Apple ID, or payment method details through this process. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

1.5 Website Forms

If you contact us through our website, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide. If you sign up to be notified when the app launches, we collect the email address you provide. Both forms are processed through Netlify Forms and used solely to respond to your inquiry or to send you the launch notification you requested.

1.6 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising frameworks, or cross-app tracking. We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track you. Comfy Budgets never asks for — and never holds — bank logins, account numbers, or card numbers, and it does not connect to your bank, card, or Apple Wallet accounts.

2. How We Use Information

We use information only for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain app functionality on your device
• To manage your subscription status through RevenueCat
• To respond to inquiries you submit through our website
• To send a one-time launch notification if you requested one

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Information may be shared only in these limited circumstances:

• With RevenueCat for subscription management, as described above
• With Apple, as required for App Store purchase processing
• If required by law, regulation, or legal process

4. Data Storage and Security

By default, your financial data is stored only on your device and protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. We do not have access to data stored on your device.

iCloud Sync

Comfy Budgets includes iCloud sync, which you can turn off in Settings. When iCloud sync is enabled, your budgets, transactions, IOUs, and attached photos are stored in Apple's iCloud servers using CloudKit and synced across devices signed into your Apple ID. When iCloud sync is enabled:

• Your data is stored in your private iCloud database, accessible only to your Apple ID
• We do not have access to data stored in your iCloud
• Data syncs are managed by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy and security practices
• You can disable sync at any time from the app's Settings

Subscription data processed by RevenueCat is stored on RevenueCat's servers in accordance with their security practices and privacy policy.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Because your financial data is stored locally on your device (and, if sync is enabled, in your private iCloud), you have full control over it at all times. You can delete individual transactions, budgets, IOUs, or memories within the app, or remove all app data by uninstalling the application and deleting the app's iCloud data in Settings.

To manage or cancel your subscription, use the subscription management settings on your iPhone: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry. Launch-notification emails are deleted after the launch notification is sent.

6. Children's Privacy

Comfy Budgets is a personal finance tool designed for adults. It is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
